Nutrition Education
When you’re eating or buying your groceries, are you thinking of the nutrition you’re putting into your body? Many of our patients are unaware of how the food they eat affects their bodies. With high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes type II on the rise, we feel it’s important we provide nutrition education to all our patients.
Unlike traditional nutrition counseling, our services are offered on a sliding fee scale. This means you can get the nutrition education you need regardless of your ability to pay. For your convenience, we are happy to offer these services in both English and Spanish.
Nutrition Education Services
Changing your lifestyle doesn’t have to be hard. With the help of our nutrition education services, we’ve seen our patients take their lives and health into their own hands. While we offer a wide range of resources to our patients, some of the most popular resources we offer include the following.
Before you can dive into the deep end of nutrition education, you need to learn nutrition basics. Our expert providers are happy to sit down with you and show you all the basic information you need to know about what you’re eating and how it can affect your body both positively and negatively. We encourage you to ask your provider any questions you may have about your eating habits or the foods you enjoy eating. We’ll be able to help you find a balance in your daily routine.
Nutrition labels are the small white lists labeled “Nutrition Facts,” that can be found on most foods you consume. These labels help consumers like you find the number of calories, fat, sodium, and more in each serving of your favorite foods. Our providers will sit down with you and break down how to read these nutrition labels, so you can prioritize how you eat your food throughout the day to keep you on a healthy and balanced diet.
MyPlate is the new and improved version of the traditional food pyramid. With MyPlate, you can see the portions of foods you should have on your plate at each meal to ensure you’re eating a healthy and balanced diet. Our providers will review this plate diagram with you in detail to ensure you understand your portion sizes at each meal.
In addition to these services, our providers will be happy to work with you and provide you with all the tools you need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. If you have any questions about your current diet or the foods you enjoy eating, we encourage you to be candid and ask our providers. They’ll be able to answer your questions in detail, so you can be confident in your ability to lead a healthy lifestyle.
